Installing Exchange 2010 Service Pack 3 (SP3)
Service Pack 3 has been released for Exchange 2010 for some time now and I’m about to install it (I always like to wait a while before installing service packs). The key features are:
- Coexistence with Exchange 2013
- Support for Windows Server 2012
- Many customer requested fixes
I have already downloaded the SP3 installer but first I am required to prepare Active Directory by updating the Schema. This is achieved by running the following command:
Setup /PrepareAD
Also, I have had to ensure the following prerequisites are installed:
- The ‘IIS Dynamic Content Compression‘ component
- The ‘IIS Static Content Compression‘ component
- The ‘RPC Over HTTP Proxy‘ component
- The ‘IIS Digest Authentication‘ component
The ‘Client Certificate Mapping Authentication‘ component - The ‘Directory Browsing‘ component
- The ‘HTTP Errors‘ component
- The ‘HTTP Logging‘ component
- The ‘HTTP Redirection‘ component
- The ‘Tracing‘ component
- The ‘Request Monitor‘ component
- The ‘Static Content‘ component
Now these have been taken care of I can install the Service Pack…
1. Browse to the folder containing the extracted files and run Setup.exe
2. Click Install Microsoft Exchange Server Upgrade
3. At the introduction screen click Next
4. Accept the license agreement and click Next
5. Allow the Readiness Checks to complete
6. Click Upgrade and wait while the service pack is installed
I’m happy to say that the upgrade completed without any errors and now, when I open EMC and navigate to Server Configuration, I can see that the version of the server has increased from 14.2 to 14.3
