Entering the license key on an Exchange 2010 Server

Now that I have installed Exchange 2010 the first thing to do is enter my license key – without this I won’t be able to use the server beyond the 120 day grace period.  As I wasn’t prompted for the key during installation I didn’t know where to enter it, but it didn’t take long to find out…

1. In the Exchange Management Console select the Organisation Configuration and select Server Configuration

2. In the task pane on the right click Enter Product Key

3. Type in your product key and click Enter

4. Click Finish

Although the key was entered successfully it won’t take effect until the next time the Information Store service is restarted.
